The archives of the Church of Ireland and the Catholic Church (baptismal records, marriage records, and burial records) are primary sources of information for genealogists and family history researchers. Although many records were destroyed in the fire of the Public Record Office in 1922, many have survived, covering the majority of the population and a huge geographical area. A Catholic in penal times was presumed guilty of disloyalty to the authorities unless he could prove himself innocent. To avail of the provisions of the Catholic Relief Acts, from 1778 he had to take an oath of loyalty at the assizes in the county town.

Raheen Parish registers were transcribed at the National Library of Ireland in Dublin from film #4205 by Pat Connors. The film was in fair condition but the handwriting was very old and extremely hard to read at times.

The records of Donagheady Church of Ireland are among the earliest of any church in Northern Ireland. Registers of baptisms and marriages survive from 1697 and burials from 1698, though there are gaps.

The following list of names and information as to occupation and their addresses were transcribed by the Rev. P. O Gallachair from Ms 2486 in the National Library of Ireland & MS 1A.52.77 National Archives of Ireland, and published in the Clogher Record.
Bekan records which exist : Baptisms: Aug 3rd, 1832 - Feb 2nd, 1844, Dec 15th, 1844 - May 20th, 1861, Sept 15th, 1851 - May 7th, 1871,
On these tables the childs first name is listed before the surname - then the father's first name. The mothers surname is listed before her first name, as is the surname of the 'sponsor'. The 'sponsor' is the Godparent's. When a name was difficult to read or illigible, then there are question marks
Please note, that while it may be very exciting to discover that records exist for the parish you are interested in, continuously from the mid-1700s to 1880 - do not place too much emphasis on that fact, records that are so old tend to be in bad condition, sometimes so faded as to be illegible. Unfortunately, the same can also be said for some records that were created in the mid-1800s

All spellings are as on original document. There are possibly some errors such as Wm. Quirke being listed as a curate in two parishes.

In 1802 Bishop Thomas Lewis O\'Beirne instructed his Registrar to obtain from his clergy accurate written lists of their parishoners, with particulars of the various families. Overall, the register was easy to read and organise. The mother's name is given as the same as her husband for most of 1833, it is assumed that in the majority of entries this is not her maiden name.
Parish records do not all contain the same information - some list only the names of those directly involved in the event - some list the townlands or addresses of these people - some marriage records will list the names of the parents of those being married and the towland that they came from - while, then there are parish records that list only the names of the people inivolved in the event giving no indcation as to where they lived.
The following pages contain records of Births, Marriages and Deaths in Crossroads Presbyterian Church. They are unfortunately not complete but are fairly comprehensive. The accuracy of them depends solely on those people who recorded them over the years.
This parish register is in poor condition and can be quite difficult to read. The placenames given are extremely difficult to make out Child, father, mother, Godparents and townlands are given. The dates were also very difficult to read. Dates, Godparents and townlands are not listed on this page.
