Description:
Windgap, County Kilkenny. Remains of an old home at a crossroads in the area of Windgap. The County Kilkenny is noteworthy for its shale deposits and coalmines. Perhaps, this is the reason for the use of the slatey tiles for the roof of this dwelling. A typical house of its period (c. mid-19th C. and later), with an interior wall almost dividing the building. This stone wall extended to within a couple of feet of the far side wall thus allowing the inhabitants to move freely from one side to the other.
